Bracon Releases ACA-Series of High Performance Ceramic Chip Antennas with Package Sizes as Small as 2.0x1.2x1.0mm

Abracon Corporation introduces its ACA-101-T, ACA-102-T, ACA-103-T and ACA-104-T series of ceramic chip antennas with package sizes as small as 2.0x1.2x1.0mm

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (PRWEB) August 29, 2013 -- A globally preferred, leading supplier of  frequency control and  magnetic components, Abracon Corporation introduces its ACA-101-T, ACA-102-T, ACA-103-T and ACA-104-T series of  ceramic chip antennas.

The ACA series offers a range of WLAN/Bluetooth and GPS antennas in a low profile (5.0x2.0mm to 2.0x1.2mm respectively), low cost, RoHS compliant and lead-free SMD package.

The ACA series of chip antennas is designed to cover WLAN bands at 2.45GHz and 5.2GHz and GPS bands at 1575MHz, with impedance matched to 50-ohms in a low profile package, with a maximum height of 1.2mm.

“The ACA series of chip antennas is highly compact and offer an efficient solution for applications where PCB area is critical. This is demonstrated by the ACA-102-T that offers one of the world’s smallest antenna volume of 2.4mm^3, measuring 2.0x1.2x1.0mm, and yet has a peak 3D gain of 0.6dBi and efficiency of 84%,” explains Dean Clark, Technical Sales Manager for Abracon.

The ACA-103-T offers dual band WLAN capabilities over 2.45GHz and 5.487GHz. This antenna is tuned and matched to operate in both WLAN/Bluetooth 2.45GHz and 5GHz WLAN bands simultaneously or through dual or single feeds from either band, depending upon the matching lumped elements. This device can be used in applications using IEEE 802.11a, b, g or n, and the new draft IEEE 802.11ac that will offer 8x80MHz MIMO channels.

For GPS applications with highly constrained PCB space, the ACA-104-T offers a space saving 4.0x1.8x1.2mm solution, while providing a +0.03dBi peak gain and a typical VSWR of 2.0:1.

The ACA-101-T offers the compact design of a chip antenna measuring 4.0x2.0x1.2mm, with WLAN capabilities of 2.45GHz, a high peak gain of 1.09dBi and a typical VSWR of 2.5:1.

Key features of the ACA series include:

  • Impedance matched to 50-ohms with options for π, T or L-matching circuits.
  • A -40ºC to +85ºC operating temperature range.
  • An ultra compact, low profile design for high density surface mounting.
  • High gain and efficiency.
  • A dual band option for 2.45GHz and 5.487GHz applications.
