Newport Media Samples the Industry’s Lowest Cost, Combination IEEE 802.11b,g,n, Bluetooth 4.0, FM System-On-Chip

Newport Media’s NMC3000 Connectivity SoC addresses the rapidly growing demand for mass market consumer smartphones

LAKE FOREST, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — August 20, 2013Newport Media, an innovative fabless communications semiconductor company supplying products to the wireless connectivity and broadcast media industry, today announced sample availability of its multi-mode combination system-on-chip (SoC) addressing the wireless connectivity market.

The NMC3000 is a multi-mode Wi-Fi®, Bluetooth, FM SoC that includes all RF and baseband circuitry required to provide IEEE 802.11b, g, n-compliant, FM receive, and Bluetooth 4.0 / Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) operation. The NMC3000 features all necessary power amplifiers, switches, memory, audio amplifier and power management circuitry. By leveraging Newport Media’s advanced OFDM baseband and RF CMOS technology, the NMC3000 offers levels of integration, and minimal external bill of material (BOM) that surpasses that of the world’s leading connectivity solutions providers.

The NMC3000 is available in 48-pin, 6mm X 6mm quad flat no-lead (QFN), as well as wafer-level chip-scale packages.

Engineering samples are currently available to key customers with volume production scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2014.
