Corel(R) and Lattice Technology Form Partnership to Improve Technical Communication Workflow by Leveraging 3D

OTTAWA and SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- Mar 26, 2013 -- Corel and Lattice Technology Inc. today announced a strategic partnership to improve the documentation workflow for technical illustrators. This partnership allows Corel, one of the world's top software companies, to access 3D XVL data models directly in Corel's recently introduced CorelDRAW® Technical Suite X6. XVL is the enabling technology provided by Lattice Technology, a leading provider of technical communication and digital mock up software.

CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6 includes key tools and intuitive features for businesses and technical users. The XVL technology allows illustrators to work with 3D data created by CAD engineers, giving users more detailed information (such as 3D measurement tools, advanced disassembly creation and 3D animation capabilities) for their technical drawings.

3D CAD model data is converted into Lattice Technology's XVL data format, the industry's most lightweight, accurate 3D format. XVL was developed to enable interactive 3D design data to be easily shared across the entire design workflow and extended enterprise, such as engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality and service.

"By integrating our XVL technology with CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6, we're providing a solution that allows the technical illustrator to create higher quality documentation in less time," said Bill Barnes, General Manager, Lattice Technology, Inc. "Lattice Technology serves organizations in manufacturing and architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) by leveraging 3D CAD data across the extended enterprise. The relationship with Corel allows us to provide leading edge capabilities to the person charged with developing technical documentation."

"Partnering with Lattice allows us to provide CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6 users with unique precision tools that offer more latitude and efficiency when working with 3D models," said Gérard Métrailler, Sr. Director, Product Management, Graphics at Corel. "Now with the integrated XVL technology from Lattice, CorelDRAW Technical Suite X6 is the most complete visual communication solution for technical illustrators and technical graphics users."
